The release of Issue 9 brings significant updates to ASD-STE100 Simplified Technical English (STE). This talk will explore the transition from "specification" to "standard," highlighting its growing recognition and the alignment of its linguistic terminology with international standards through metaterminology harmonization.

Key changes include major revisions to the writing rules, offering clearer wording, new general recommendations, and added clarifications to enhance usability. The dictionary has also been extensively updated, with over 600 terms reviewed, including new entries, removals, and improved examples. These enhancements extend the applicability of STE to industries beyond aerospace and defense, making it a more versatile and inclusive resource for technical communicators across various fields.
